ユン・イサン　サントリーホール国際作曲委嘱シリーズ Ⅲ　Isang Yun Suntory Hall International Program for Music Composition Ⅲ

1986年10月のオープニングとともに始まった「サントリーホール国際作曲委嘱シリーズ」。武満徹(1986–98)、湯浅譲二(1999–2011)、細川俊夫(2012–)の監修のもと、世界の錚々たる作曲家たちに管弦楽作品を委嘱・世界初演するとともに、作曲者が影響を受けたオーケストラの名曲も一緒に演奏してきました。そのラインナップを少しずつご紹介していきます。 今回は、韓国出身のユン・イサン（尹伊桑　1917-95、1971年に旧・西ドイツに帰化）の「交響曲第4番《暗黒の中で歌う》」を世界初演したシリーズ第3回(1986年11月13日)です。 ユンは、「交響曲第4番」の第1楽章は「現代人類が希望を失い、不安と暗澹たる未来に直面している様を示し」、第2楽章を「暗黒の中でも希望を失わず、かすかな光をたよって『心は苦しくても悲しくても、希望を捨てずに歌い続けよう』という意味を曲に織り込ん」だと綴っています。（プログラム・ノートより） 公演では「交響曲第4番」とともに、ユンが「人間性に戻る」という意味で「現代音楽史的な見地からこの曲を再吟味するのは意義のある」としたルトスワフスキ《葬送の音楽》と、「最も重要な前衛の一人」（ユン）であるツェンダーの《時の潮流》があわせて演奏されました。 本プレイリストでは、同公演とは別にユンの室内楽曲から《出会い》《ピリ》「チェロとハープのための二重奏曲」も加えて構成しました。 （選曲・構成：林田直樹　音楽ジャーナリスト・評論家） ※「サントリーホール国際作曲委嘱シリーズ」について https://www.suntory.co.jp/suntoryhall/global/composers/numano.html “Suntory Hall International Program for Music Composition” began with the opening of Suntory Hall in October 1986. Under the supervision of Toru Takemitsu, Joji Yuasa, and Toshio Hosokawa, this series has commissioned esteemed contemporary composers worldwide to compose new orchestral works and premiered them, along with performances of orchestral masterpieces that have influenced these composers. The lineup will be introduced gradually. This playlist focuses on the third concert of the series, held on November 13, 1986, which featured the world premiere of “Symphony No. 4 ‘Im Dunkeln singen’” by Isang Yun (1917–95), a composer born in Korea who became a naturalized citizen of West Germany in 1971. Yun wrote that the first movement of “Symphony No. 4” “depicts modern human beings losing hope and facing an anxious and bleak future”, while the second movement “weaves in the meaning of ‘continuing to sing despite hardship and sorrow, without losing hope, relying on faint light even in the darkness’” (from the program note). In the concert, Yun’s “Symphony No. 4” was performed alongside Witold Lutosławski’s “Musique funèbre”, which Yun regarded as “significant to re-examine from the perspective of contemporary music history” in the sense of “returning to humanity,” and Hans Zender’s “Zeitströme”, whom Yun considered “one of the most important avant-garde composers”. This playlist also includes Yun’s chamber works “Rencontre”, “Piri”, and “Duo for cello and harp”, in addition to the works performed in the concert.
