Tkay Maidza: Visionary Women

Tkay Maidza has carved her own path since her first release in 2013, when the Zimbabwean Australian artist was just 17. In the years since, her sound and style have both evolved and influenced many other young female artists, and here, in honor of International Women’s Day, she’s created a playlist featuring the women who’ve inspired her right back. “These are all songs that have empowered me in different periods of my life,” she tells Apple Music of her picks, which include songs by SZA, Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, FKA twigs, and Beyoncé. “I remember hearing these for the first time. Each of them opened my mind and changed my perception of music and life. I’m so grateful for these artists.”
