Taiwan Honors Black Music

This year, in honor of Black Music Month, we’re exploring the undeniable impact of Black music and musicians around the world. Taiwan has been influenced by Black music since the ’90s, with many Taiwanese American artists bringing genres like hip-hop and R&B back to Taiwan. Today those genres are still very popular among young listeners, and more artists have continued to create with those sounds in recent years. Since 2018, there’s been another boom in Black music after the airing of the Chinese reality show The Rap of China.
