Gustavo Cerati Essentials

Gustavo Cerati was a hero of Latin rock. Born in Buenos Aires and raised on Hendrix and The Who, he led the influential band Soda Stereo and spread the popularity of rock en Español. Formed in 1982 as a power trio, Soda Stereo absorbed new styles over the years; for 1988's Doble Vida they recorded in New York with Bowie guitarist Carlos Alomar. After the band dissolved in 1997, Cerati went solo with ambitious releases like the electronic Bocanada. After a concert in Venezuela he suffered a stroke and remained in a coma for more than four years until his death in 2014.
