An Inconvenient Truth
Former vice president Al Gore has spent decades calling attention to the global effects of climate change. This informative and unexpectedly engaging documentary brought worldwide awareness to the subject. Shortly after the film was released in the summer of 2006, well over half of the people who saw An Inconvenient Truth said they'd been enlightened on the issue, according to a 2007 study compiled by Oxford University. In a further testament to the film's global impact, An Inconvenient Truth has been added as required viewing in numerous high school and college science classes both in the United States and abroad. Awarded Best Documentary at the 2007 Academy Awards®, the film also won Best Original Song for Melissa Etheridge's call to action, "I Need to Wake Up."
