About Yiruma

World-renowned Korean pianist and composer Yiruma is known for emotive and richly melodic creations that walk the line between classical and new age.

∙ Born in Seoul, Yiruma moved to the UK as a child and spent his formative years there, eventually studying under British composer Harrison Birtwistle at King’s College London.
∙ In 2001, he released his first two albums, First Love and Love Scene—the latter included “River Flows in You,” which became his signature piece.
∙ “Kiss the Rain,” his hit from the 2003 LP From the Yellow Room, reached No. 11 on the Korean album charts.
∙ Yiruma scored two Korean films, Oasis and Doggy Poo, in the early 2000s, and he contributed an album’s worth of music to the 2006 soundtrack of the TV drama Spring Waltz.
∙ He has written songs for numerous K-pop acts, including 2AM, AILEE, and Baek Z Young.
∙ Nearly a decade after its original release, Yiruma’s album The Best - Reminiscent 10th Anniversary hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Classical and New Age charts in 2020.
