About Years & Years

Years & Years celebrates ’80s synth-pop and dance music while propelling the genres in thrilling modern directions. Helmed by vocalist Olly Alexander, the group formed in London in 2010 and released several singles before 2015 brought the full-length Communion, which featured both the fiery dance-floor epic “King” and the soulful R&B tune “Eyes Shut,” the latter a heartfelt song about mental health. Years & Years maintained this eclectic approach in the ensuing years, highlighted by disco-house throwbacks (“Meteorite”), straightforward pop (the delicate “If You’re Over Me”), and collaborations (the nimble, Jax Jones-featuring “Play”). Now a solo project for Alexander, who maintains a busy parallel career in acting, Years & Years continued to embrace a free-spirited vibe on 2022’s Night Call, between the ecstatic, groove-heavy Galantis collaboration “Sweet Talker” and the grittier electro sound of “Consequences.”
