X-Angels

About X-Angels

The Portland, OR-based band X-Angels play a mature, solid brand of roots rock bolstered by accomplished, veteran musicianship. During the '90s, the group became known as a formidable bar band on the Portland scene. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Tom McGriff founded the group in the early '90s when he returned to Portland after a 15-year stint in L.A. Bassist Rich Gooch had previously been a member of '80s phenoms Quarterflash (known for the smash hit "Harden My Heart"). Drummer Tom Royer and guitarist Steve James round out the lineup. The band, initially known as the Cowboy Angels, released its debut, Escape From L.A., in 1994, following it with X-Blonde (which saw the addition of guitarist James). Divine River followed in 2000 and Four Bridges in 2001. ~ Erik Hage
