About Wordplay T. Jay

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I come from a musical family of choir singers and musicians. I remember hearing the piano, voices, and the saxophone being played in my home early on. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? JAY-Z, The Blueprint Ludacris, Word of Mouf Stevie Wonder, Hotter Than July (Reissue) Jay-Z's Blueprint and Ludacris' Word of Mouf were both albums that shaped my writing and performance style. They were clever, story-telling lyrics that really cut through the noise. Stevie Wonder adds to that range by bringing in the soul. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Breakfast & Biggie” Breakfast & Biggie was my premiere to the world. Sway Calloway and Ja Rule praised my song on the MTV interview show, "RapFix Live". After that review, my career began and continues to this day. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? My career is full of memorable moments, but the most impactful was meeting Russel Simmons. He rejected one of my early demos, and after that polite rejection I chose to learn more about the music business and start my own independent record label. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would love to work with people that have influenced my style. People like: Timbaland, Pharrell, Jay Z, Missy Elliott, Ludacris, & OutKast. I came close to working with Big Boi the day I met him and asked his road manager to come backstage.
