Witchcraft

Witchcraft doesn’t seem to have any interest in the world of music past Black Sabbath’s first album. The Swedish act’s sole frame of reference is the leathery biker-rock that evolved into what we now call heavy metal. Sabbath, Deep Purple, Steppenwolf, and Virginia’s influential, obscure Pentagram are the cornerstones of their sound. Since the turn of the millennium, they’ve been exploring the hidden corners of this bluesy, adventurous music, doing their best to create the perfect version with the aid of hindsight. Sidenote: They achieve all this with vintage 70s recording equipment, and the resulting basement sound is undeniably authentic.
