As a teenager, William McDowell earned his musical chops playing drums and organ at church before moving on to become a worship leader, pastor, and award-winning gospel singer. ∙ The viral hit “I Give Myself Away,” from his 2009 debut, As We Worship Live, was McDowell’s first track to top Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart. ∙ Recorded live with a 2,000-strong group of worshippers, 2013’s Grammy-nominated Withholding Nothing picked up a Stellar Award for Praise and Worship CD of the Year. ∙ Chart-topping gospel singer Travis Greene was one of several guest artists to appear on Sounds of Revival, which won Urban Worship Album of the Year honors at the 2016 Dove Awards. ∙ The Cry: A Live Worship Experience, from 2019, was his fifth consecutive release to reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart.
