About Unwritten Law
Unwritten Law are one of the best-established and best-respected bands to emerge from San Diego’s vibrant punk scene, as their 2002 album Elva earned mainstream success and spawned a hit single, “Seein’ Red,” that illustrated their dynamic range and melodic gifts. Drummer Wade Youman founded the band in 1990 in Poway, CA. Unwritten Law quickly found a niche there, releasing a 1992 demo and then a full-length, Blue Room. Major labels came calling after that, and the group released singles such as 1998’s “Teenage Suicide” and elevated their reputation by appearing on the Vans Warped Tour. Post-Elva, the band went through multiple lineup changes, including Youman leaving and rejoining the band, but they continue to fly the flag for hardcore-infused punk, as heard on 2022’s The Hum.
