In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was 6 or 7 years old, I put on some of my favorite songs and tried to play the drum grooves and fills. Discovering how to make beats was incredible. I was very fortunate to discover my passion at such a young age. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Cedar Walton, Jack DeJohnette, Ron Carter, Cedar Walton~Ron Carter~Jack DeJohnette John Roberts, Wrecked Exotic Squarepusher, Hard Normal Daddy Jack DeJohnette explores melody and harmony using drums (Pictures 1977). Squarepusher captured jazz fusion and merged it with a bedroom studio, DIY approach. John Roberts creates highly personal, organic music using sound design techniques. Tell us why you chose this song. “The Only Way out Is In” This track was recorded on drums outfitted with electronic triggers and drum pads. I sat down behind my kit and just started improvising. This track brings together my love of jazz, experimental music, beats , sound design and electronic music.
