About Tokio Hotel

German quartet Tokio Hotel show just how universal catchy guitar riffs and teenage angst can be. Formed in the city of Magdeburg in 2001, the band started off as a scrappy group of friends playing rock music around town. The group grew to create dramatic and emotional songs like the breakout “Durch den Monsun," which made them stars in their home country during the mid-2000s. In 2007, they translated their emo catharsis into English, with slow-building numbers such as “Monsoon” (the English version of "Durch den Monsun") and speedier works like “Ready, Set, Go!” connecting with young listeners all over the world. Tokio Hotel grew more ambitious, incorporating dystopian storytelling alongside their emo rockers on 2009’s Humanoid. They continue to explore heavier feelings, incorporating more electronic elements into their sound on songs like 2016’s synth-guided “What If.”
