Timeflies

About Timeflies

Combining electro-pop sounds with rap lyricism and catchy melodies, Timeflies released a pair of major label albums in the mid-2010s and scored a viral streaming hit with their 2016 single “Once In a While.” • Vocalist Cal Shapiro met producer Rob Resnick at Boston's Tufts University in late 2007. Cal did some freestyle rapping at a party, and Rez invited him to join his funk band, The Ride. • In 2011, the duo self-released The Scotch Tape. The title is a punny nod to Cal’s habit of drinking scotch-and-tea with his vocal warmups. • Timeflies proved to be as savvy with social media as they were music. They grew their audience via weekly “Timeflies Tuesdays” videos featuring new music. • The group’s 2014 album After Hours reached No. 8 on the Billboard 200. Fabolous, T-Pain, and Katie Sky guest on the LP. • Their gold-selling 2016 single “Once in a While” has racked up hundreds of millions of streams. • In 2019, Timeflies went on hiatus so Shapiro and Resnick could pursue solo endeavors.
