Portland, OR retro-futurist pop combo the Sensualists was formed in 1997 by singers/keyboardists Anna Fidler and Philip Cooper; with the addition of drummer Roy Kettler, the group played its first live dates, gradually expanding its multi-media arsenal thanks to a series of thrift-store finds including not only vintage synthesizers but also customized film projectors. Bassist/turntablist Asa Metric completed the Sensualists' lineup, which issued its self-titled debut on the local Audio Dregs label in 1999. Adaptations followed in early 2001. ~ Jason Ankeny
