About The Mars Volta

The Mars Volta formed in 2001 from the ashes of hardcore group At the Drive-In and wasted little time branching out with elements of hardcore, prog, psychedelic rock, and avant-jazz and funk. Led by the core duo of Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, they immediately impressed with 2003's gold-certified Deloused in the Comatorium, followed by similarly exploratory releases like 2005's Frances the Mute and 2008's The Bedlam in Goliath. After 2012's Noctourniquet, the Mars Volta split for a full decade, eventually reuniting in 2022 for an eponymous full-length album on Cloud Hill. Ever the sonic explorers, the band returned a year later with an entirely acoustic reimagining of their previous album titled Que Dios Te Maldiga Mi Corazon.
