The Leeches

About The Leeches

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. What is it that jump starts a heart? A mind? A different path from that most followed? It's that Em – C barre chord staccato blast opening of London Calling by The Clash. It was like nothing I’d heard before, yet embodied everything I heard before. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? MC5, Kick Out the Jams The Beatles, Revolver The Clash, Sandinista! These albums touch heart, mind, soul and nervous system--there's melody and shouting and anthems to make you think while you dance, or merely while you dream. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Peace, Love, and Justice (Live)” Towards the end of the Era of Greed that was the 80s, I could see a path, a future, that was more hopeful than it had been at the beginning of the decade. My pessimistic songs gave way to optimism and I hoped to bring that message to the fore. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? We opened for many of our influences and favorite bands, like Billy Bragg, John Cage, Chris Spedding among others, but opening for The Ramones, AND getting a rousing reaction from an audience that was clearly NOT there to see us was most memorable. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? We sold the vast majority of our music in Europe. We'd love somehow, someway to play there some day.
