The Hub

About The Hub

Electronic musicians John Bischoff, Chris Brown, Scot Gresham-Lancaster, Tim Perkis, and Phil Stone are the Hub -- a band via their computer network of the same name which grew out of an earlier project of Bischoff's. The first computer network band, the League of Automatic Music Composers, was founded in the late '70s by Bischoff, Jim Horton, and Rich Gold. Their system didn't work as well when more musicians were connected, and changes to remedy this eventually led to the Hub. The group has been performing and recording since the mid-'80s and have several albums on the Artifact label; they have collaborated with Rova Saxophone Quartet and Alvin Curran, as heard on two cuts on Wreckin' Ball. ~ Joslyn Layne
