About The Flipsides

Since their first show, Christmas Eve 1999, in a San Francisco Haight Street Bar, the Flipsides have been tearing through rollicking power pop tunes like there's no tomorrow. The group, led by vocalist and guitarist Sabrina Stewart with Mark Bradin on bass and Jim Lindsay on drums, follows in the footsteps of Elvis Costello by matching upbeat melodies and explosive riffs with true cynicism. The Flipsides infuse their rock and roll with a punk attitude (also following Costello), which makes them sound reminiscent of bands like the Eyeliners, but the Flipsides excel most when working 60s grooves and Kinks-y pop. After self-releasing a five song EP, the band was discovered by Pink & Black Records, who put out their debut full-length, Clever One, in July of 2002. Tracks on various compilations including Fat Wreck Chords' Squawk Among Us, End Records' Empty Hearts, Broken Bottles and Adeline Records' Every Dog Will Have Its Day followed later that year. ~ Charles Spano
