About The Falcons

The Falcons are nearly as famous for their members' post-Falcons work as they are for their own. They were a Detroit-based group on the cutting edge between doo wop and R&B, hitting big in 1959 with "You're So Fine" after kicking around for a few years. At the time of that hit, their members included Mack Rice, who would go on to write "Mustang Sally," "Respect Yourself," and many other tunes, and future soul star Eddie Floyd. Wilson Pickett joined the group in 1960, and eventually led them to another hit, "I Found A Love," shortly before the original group disbanded, their name to be taken over by an entirely different ensemble.
