About The Drews
Describing their music as "Americana with a punch line," the Drews are a rotating cast of musicians centered around the husband/wife team of Andrew and Jen DiMartino. The pair met on a Seattle beach in late 1992 and soon began performing and writing together. Andrew had been playing guitar for many years; Jen had classical training in piano and a degree in drama, but switched to bass and percussion before the group was formed. Occasionally featuring as many as nine players, the Drews began playing a variety of Seattle-area venues, as well as European dates. Their debut album, Strategically Interrupted Silence, was released in 2001, and featured many of the musicians who had played with the band throughout the years. It earned positive reviews at home and in Europe, receiving regular play on Radio ATL in Bree, Belgium. In 2002, the Drews pared down to a trio, with Chris Adams (snare/percussion) joining as a permanent member in 2001. ~ Jim Smith
