About The Choir of Bath Abbey

The Choir of Bath Abbey comprises groups of boys, girls, men, and smaller children, who perform separately and together. In addition to fulfilling liturgical functions at Bath Abbey, the choir has toured other cathedrals, broadcast on the BBC, and made recordings. Music at Bath Abbey dates back at least to the first mention of an organ at the church in 1634 and probably further. The modern history of the choir dates to the directorship of Peter King, who assumed the post in 1986. He remained director until 2016; Huw Williams assumed the director's post and remained in the position as of the early 2020s. The choir began to record frequently in the 2000s decade, issuing four volumes in a series entitled Music for an Abbey's Year. The choir issued the album Caritas: Music of Love, Hope, Charity and Consolation in 2022.
