About The Black Twig Pickers
Black Twig Pickers are a Virginia-based alt-Americana string band that specializes in the raw acoustic folk and blues of the "Old Weird America" as characterized by writer Greil Marcus in describing the world of Harry Smith's Anthology Of American Folk Music. Made up of of Jim Ganglof (vocals, guitar, fiddle), Isak Howell (guitar, harmonica), and Nate Bowell (washboard, percussion), the trio has recorded a number of well-received albums on VHF label, most notably 2008's Hobo's Handshake and 2009's Jack Rose & The Black Twig Pickers.
