Tessa Joy

Singer/songwriter Tessa Joy is a soulful performer whose sound straddles the line between pop, rock, and R&B. She released her debut EP, I Am, in 2016. Born Tessa Joy Thornbrough, Tessa Joy grew in Cartersville, Georgia, where she sang and acted from a young age. As a teenager, she attended Excel Christian Academy, where she was active in sports and was inducted into the Spanish Honor Society. She also developed a passion for music, learning guitar and writing her own songs. After high school, she continued to hone her skills, majoring in music at Kennesaw State University. It was during her first year at KSU that she began taking private vocal lessons with an instructor at the recording studio of noted vocal coach Jan Smith. Smith took Tessa Joy under her wing and helped recorded her debut EP, 2016's I Am, which included the single "Trouble." More songs followed including 2018's "Losing My Mind" and 2019's "All Night." ~ Matt Collar
