In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember getting a ukulele when I was seven. I was immediately taken with it and spent hours learning every chord I could. I played it all the time, carrying it around strumming and singing. It became a part of my identity.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Abbey Road (Remastered) Chicago Transit Authority Songs In The Key Of Life These are three of the most formative albums of my life. Each contains a rich and distinct musical vocabulary, influencing everything I have written over the years. Transformative music that has changed my life and the kind of artist I want to be.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Running Down the Avenue” This is one of my strongest, catchiest, grooviest tunes. And the arrangement came together well with the band. I'm especially proud of the vocal performance, with all the background harmonies I layered in there. A pure expression of my style.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I will never forget the long weekend we spent recording at the famous Pachyderm Studios. It was exhilarating but also exhausting time recording ten songs in two days. First time in a big studio and our first record. Heady times for a young band.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would like to see this band collaborate on an old-school progressive rock album. Something really ambitious in scope and length.
