Survival Knife

Olympia, Washington rock band Survival Knife were formed in 2011 by Justin Trosper and Brandt Sandeno, both founding members of '90s angular punk champions Unwound, as well as bassist Meg Cunningham and onetime Western Hymn member Kris Cunningham on drums. Approaching their sound with a more muscular and metallic edge than anything from their past, the quartet began playing shows locally. Their debut recordings came in the form of 7"s on Kill Rock Stars and Sub Pop in 2013, and they followed with full-length album Loose Power in 2014. The band toured regionally and also supported Modest Mouse for a West Coast leg of a national tour in April of 2013. ~ Fred Thomas
