About Stretch Princess

The indie pop outfit Stretch Princess is an eclectic bunch, for all three members hail from the U.K. and cite vastly different approaches when becoming involved in music. Vocalist/bassist Jo Lloyd is of Irish and Welsh decent, and grew up playing the piano. Drummer David Magee started playing the saxophone at age nine, but by the time he was a teenager he was jamming on a drum kit purchased by his grandfather. Guitarist James Wright, who spent his childhood living in Europe and Australia, plucked his first riff at age four. While growing into an adult, he succeeded at playing in pubs in Perth, but desired for a bigger scene. He moved back to London and Stretch Princess was born in 1996. A year later, Stretch Princess was invited to play CMJ, and their London ties were cut shortly thereafter. Currently based in New York, Stretch Princess released their self-titled debut in fall 2000. Fun with Humans appeared two years later. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
