A punk-metal hybrid act that formed in California in 1977 and lasted until 1983, over the course of their short lifespan the Stepmothers contained approximately 13 or so members; released singles, EPs, and albums on three different labels (Bomp, Slash, and Posh Boy); and had only one member to last the whole trip, Steve Jones (aka John Henry Jones, later of the Unforgiven) on guitar and vocals. Besides their rather nomadic history, they were also featured on one of the Rodney on the ROQ punk compilations, and made a name for themselves in the Los Angeles/Hollywood punk scene. ~ Chris True
