About Steff la Cheffe

Known for her beatboxing talent, Steff la Cheffe is a Swiss rapper who made her Top Ten hit album debut with Bittersüessi Pille in 2010. Born Stefanie Peter in 1987 in Bern, Switzerland, she first got into hip-hop after her brother introduced her to the classic Roots album Things Fall Apart (1999) and virtuous beatboxer Rahzel. She began performing at age 16 and developed a reputation for beatboxing. Her big break came in 2009, when toured internationally with Swiss legend Andreas Vollenweider. In association with the label Bakara Music, Steff la Cheffe made her solo album debut with Bittersüessi Pille in 2010. Produced by and featuring Swiss reggae singer Dodo, among others, Bittersüessi Pille reached number seven on the Swiss albums chart and spawned the single "Annabelle." ~ Jason Birchmeier
