About Spike McGuire

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. The very first concert I went to was John Prine at Pioneer Center For The Performing Arts. I was about 5 years old, and it made a lasting impression, to say the least. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Greg Gilmore & the Fever Dreams, Premonition Joshua James Jackson, Livin' the Dream Rachael McElhiney, Starin' Up - Single This are all records by my friends. The best thing music has brought into my life is friendship. These are three people who mean the world to me. If you like me, you'll like them. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Dead and Gone (Live)” This will always be a special one to me. I have been writing political songs for years, but this feels like the one I was always trying to write. I feel like this does the best job of tying all my influences into a sound that is unmistakably mine. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I was born standing on a horse shoe and have parlayed that luck to create one of the most memorable careers a folk singer could ask for. I think my favorite tour would still have to by my first run in Europe with Seth Anderson and Forest Pooky. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I've still got a lot of the world left that I'd like to see and I look forward to music taking me on that adventure. The last thing on my bucket list is to be playing music on the day I die and that keeps my playing daily, just to be safe.
