About Slave Raider

Formed in America in 1987 around the antics of vocalist Chainsaw Caine and his cohorts Nicci Wikkid (guitar), Letitia Rae (bass), Lance Sabin (guitar) and a drummer who called himself The Rock. At best they could be described as a poor man’s Twisted Sister but lacked the talent to move off the bottom rung. Having recorded their debut album, to be used as a demo, Jive Records picked them up and Caine set his sights on taking the UK by storm. This included live performances where he would ‘chainsaw’ in half a large cardboard cut-out of Rick Astley. As a stage coup de grace it was neither particularly funny nor particularly original. Jive, however, pushed them hard with promotional videos and press coverage, but to little avail. They then put them in a London recording studio with Chris Tsangarides, but even the legendary producer could do little to help them and soon after the release of their second album, Jive dropped them and they broke up.
