About Skylights

Oasis-inspired Yorkshire, U.K. indie rock quartet Skylights also give a nod to the rockier side of 1980s alt guitar acts such as Echo & the Bunnymen and the Cult. They were formed in 2008, in the Acomb area of York, and between then and 2013, Skylights played live sporadically in their home city before going on hiatus. From 2017 onward, they gigged frequently in Leeds, leading many to believe they were a Leeds band. After an initial run of digital singles, Manchester's 42's Records began to back them, and the group's debut physical release, 2020's "Enemies," was promoted by a live appearance on national TV. The reflective, string-laden "Darkness Falls" followed later that year, but it wasn't until 2022 that Skylights' debut album, What You Are, was issued, narrowly missing out on a U.K. album chart placing.
