Silent Sanctuary

Noughties OPM would not be complete without the orchestral serenades of Silent Sanctuary. The Manila-based ensemble, known for infusing pop-rock tunes with classical elements, have been making music since 2001, but gained a cult following upon the release of 2007’s Fuchsiang Pag-Ibig, which featured coming-of-age love anthems “Kundiman” and “Ikaw Lamang”. Their hallmark sound, underscored by piano, violin and cello, has mastered the balance between classical and contemporary for a perfectly textured, transcendent sonic experience—one love song after another.
