In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My first cowrite was with my cousin Patrice at about 10 years old. Our song was called "The Perfect Man." We both lived in single mother homes and were sad about our fathers' not being around and channeled that hurt into a song. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? India.Arie, Worthy Jamie Foxx, Intuition Xavier Omär, The Everlasting Wave From 2008 to 2010, Jamie Foxx albums exuded an elegance and sexiness I couldn't resist. The Everlasting Wave was my husband and I's falling in love album. I know every song on the Worthy album, but every India.Arie record is pure treasure. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Now” I love "Now" so much because it feels warm, uplifting and empowering. I wrote "Now" from a pure place with deep and sincere intentions for healing, and every time I listen to it I feel a powerful sense of gratitude that brings me to tears. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I'll never forget the day I sang my song "Find a Way" live and it brought a woman to tears; she had to excuse herself from the room. That was the first time I realized how powerful and impactful my words and music can really be. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would like to write and release at least 150 songs and music videos and perform them all over the world for large audiences and have them featured in film and media, making a positive impact on humanity I could never even imagine.
