About Seducer

This hard rock group was formed in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 1980 by vocalists/guitarists Frans Phillipus and Jerry Lopies. After a series of false starts, the line-up stabilized with the recruitment of bass player Eppie Munting and drummer Rene van Leersum. Specializing in blues-based hard rock and boogie, the band contributed their first tracks to a compilation, Holland Heavy Metal Vol. 1, in 1982. A contract with the independent Universe label followed and a self-titled debut appeared in 1983. This was poorly received, and a line-up reshuffle ensued, with Van Leersum and Lopies departing in favour of ex-Hammerhead guitarist Erik Karreman, drummer Jan Koster and vocalist Thijs Hamelaers. They contributed two further numbers to the Dutch Steel compilation in 1984, but the group disbanded shortly afterwards as Koster and Karreman formed Highway Chile, while Hamelaers went on to Germane and later the Sleez Beez.
