About Rosalie Sorrels
Raised in a musical family, Rosalie Sorrels took a course in American folk music in the '50s. Despite raising a family of five children alone, she became involved in collecting traditional songs and recorded her debut album, Folksongs of Idaho and Utah (1959). Later, she took up the guitar and was recruited by Lena Spencer to sing at the famous Caffe Lena in 1966. Known for her storytelling as well as her songs, Sorrels played virtually every major folk festival in the U.S. during her career. Among her many albums were Be Careful, There's a Baby in the House (1990) and Report from Grimes Creek (1991) for Green Linnet. Continuing to tour and record into the 2000s, Rosalie Sorrels died in 2017 at the age of 83. ~ TiVo Staff
