About Ros Gilman

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember my mother coming home with my very first (tiny) violin. I was 3 years old and Mendelssohn's violin concerto was playing on TV. I immediately tried to play along, but of course didn't know how. 16 years later I was finally able to play it. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Falling Snow” My solo piano piece Falling Snow. It came to me on a cold winter night, after a bowl of hot soup. I wrote the piece in about 30 mins and recorded it the next day. This gentle and warm piece remains one of my favourite works to date. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? As a student I suffered a hand injury which abruptly ended my violin career. Being unable to play I reinvented myself as a composer and conductor. 15 years later, I was finally able to perform again. Being back in the rec studio was a powerful moment
