In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Earliest memory was probably berating a classmate in Grade 1 for not being able to understand that the "E" the teacher was singing was called an "E." Started piano lessons shortly after. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Emiliano Salvador, Puerto Padre (Remastered) Jim Bryant, Marni Nixon, Natalie Wood, Rita Moreno, Russ Tamblyn, Stephen Sondheim, West Side Story (1961 Motion Picture Soundtrack) [50th Anniversary] [2012 Remaster] Thomas Dolby, The Golden Age of Wireless "The Golden Age of Wireless." Perfect synths. West Side Story original film soundtrack! Hollywood session guys at their peak. C'mon. "Puerto Padre" blows my mind- always something new to hear- and you hear more of its intricacies on Apple Music. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “The Purge Improvisation” One of my co-residents at the Banff Centre, a brilliant musician and historian named Lisa-Ann Schonberg, had produced unbelievable recordings of ant hills with contact mics. I "jammed" along to one, and she didn't use it, so that became "The Purge." What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? A week after I put out my first record, I was working as a parking attendant at a convention centre, otherwise unemployed. Tom Power, who hosts a show on the CBC here called "Q," reached out and asked if I would perform live during their Piano Week. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? There are some venues I still haven't played, either solo or in someone's band-- Massey Hall in Toronto, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver. I'd love to record somewhere really fancy like Emil Berliner studios. I also wish I owned a grand piano.
