Rob Reddy

About Rob Reddy

A versatile and adventurous saxophonist, Rob Reddy made a strong impression with his debut recording as a leader, Post-War Euphoria (which was released in 1996 by the Songlines label). He grew up on Long Island and moved to New York City in 1985. Reddy gained important experience touring with Ronald Shannon Jackson's Decoding Society, playing free funk but also discovering the passion of gospel music. In 1992 he formed a trio with Reggie Workman and Pheeroan akLaff and put together the Honor System (a sextet with trumpeter E.J. Allen, trombonist Josh Roseman, guitarist Jef Lee Johnson, bassist Dom Richards and akLaff) in 1993. Rob Reddy has also had opportunities to work with Rashied Ali, Dave Douglas, Gerry Hemingway and other forward-thinking players. ~ Scott Yanow
