Pod Blotz is the musical project of Suzy Poling, a notable interdisciplinary artist and photographer based in Los Angeles. Utilizing analog synthesizers, field recordings, tape manipulation, and distorted vocals, her music is a pulsating, otherworldly blend of noise, techno, industrial, and experimental electronics. During her dazzling live performances, she incorporates costumes, projections, lighting effects, and props, constructing miniature alien worlds for her to inhabit. She has issued over two dozen cassettes, LPs, and CD-Rs, including Glass Tears (2013) and Transdimensional System (2020). Originally from Michigan, Poling studied in Chicago before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area. She started making music as Pod Blotz in 2002, and released several CD-Rs before her first LP, The Swamp Command, was issued by Fish Pies in 2006. Numerous cassettes and CD-Rs followed on labels like Chocolate Monk and DNT Records, while Poling performed at various venues and experimental music festivals, in addition to having art exhibitions at galleries throughout the United States. After moving to Los Angeles, she released her second LP, 2013's Glass Tears, through Clan Destine Records. A split LP with Auk Theater was also issued that year. Two tapes, Human Division and Other, both appeared in 2015, followed by The Voltaic Eye in 2016. A 12" EP titled Light Mass Body was released by Difficult Interactions in 2018. Transdimensional System, featuring sounds recorded at the Vintage Synthesizer Museum in Oakland, California, was issued by Dais Records in 2020. ~ Paul Simpson
