About Parker Ramsay

Parker Ramsay has greatly enlarged the repertory for the harp through transcriptions and commissions of new music for his chosen instrument, pursuing a professional career on it after studying historical keyboards. Ramsay was named an organ scholar at King's College, Cambridge, becoming the first American to hold that position. Working under music director Stephen Cleobury, he joined the choir on six international tours and four recordings. He earned a degree in historical keyboards from Oberlin, then worked with harpist Nancy Allen, and has since dedicated his career solely to harp. He has commissioned many new works and made his own arrangements, finding critical success with his first solo harp album, Bach's Goldberg Variations, BWV 988. He often lectures and writes about historical instruments and their performance.
