About Ottmar Liebert
Thanks to his signature fusion of styles and his astonishing dexterity, Ottmar Liebert has become a special kind of guitar hero. Born in 1959 in West Germany and raised all over Europe and Asia, Liebert was studying classical guitar as a teen when he discovered the power and grace of flamenco. Though Liebert drew inspiration from jazz, rock, and classical, Spanish music became the foundation for the captivating sound he showcased on albums such as Nouveau Flamenco, the 1990 debut that became a worldwide hit, and 1996’s serene Opium - Wide-Eyed / Dreaming. In his decades of recording and performing with his band Luna Negra, Liebert expanded his range to include both the gently soothing sounds on 2002’s In the Arms of Love: Lullabies 4 Children & Adults and reggae rhythms on 2015’s Waiting ‘n’ Swan, featuring his reinventions of classic songs by Bob Marley.
