Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle-Aquitaine

About Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle-Aquitaine

Since its inception, the Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle-Aquitaine has offered era-spanning concert programs, from Mozart to Leonard Bernstein to more contemporary fare. The orchestra presents around 40 concerts a year, which include several specifically for children, as well as educational and cultural community outreach programs. The Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle-Aquitaine was founded in Poitiers, France, in 1981 as the Orchestre Poitou-Charentes, taking the new name in 2017. Pianist and conductor Jean-François Heisser has served as the artistic director since 2000, leading the orchestra on its debut recording of works by Manuel de Falla in 2007. In 2017, the Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle-Aquitaine issued a complete recording of Beethoven's piano concertos, with Heisser conducting from the piano. Heisser led the orchestra on a recording of Messiaen's Des canyons aux étoiles... in 2022.
