No-No Boy

No-No Boy is the project of Julian Saporiti, an Asian-American singer, songwriter, and scholar whose work combines modern folk songs, visual media, and storytelling to explore unique and often lesser-known facets of history, particularly in regard to the immigrant experience. His debut album, 1942, was built around stories he'd collected from survivors of WWII Japanese-American internment camps, while his 2021 follow-up, 1975, concerned his own family's experiences living through the Vietnam War. After recalibrating his creative approach, Saporiti returned in 2023 with the looser, more wide-ranging Empire Electric.
