About Nicole Russin-McFarland

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was at school studying flute, the other music class had Peer Gynt for homework. Hearing Peer Gynt live is a whole different experience than hearing a recording. The simple chords melted me away in their power saying a lot with very little. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Britney Spears, Blackout (Deluxe Edition) James Horner, Titanic Music from the Motion Picture Post Malone, Hollywood's Bleeding Titanic made me believe that a film score album could a hot seller in the modern age. Blackout is by far the best produced pop album of the modern era. Hollywood's Bleeding by Post Malone combines genres beautifully with honesty. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “I Am Shy (Vocal Version)” I am so proud of the production I pulled off on this song with blending a more complex piano melody against hip hop beats, then throwing in styles that ordinarily don't go with what we expect from hip hop sounds. Blending genres is what I do! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Helping promote UJAM's affordable music plug-ins. The company is co-founded by Peter Gorges, Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams. My inner 13 year old me who loved their music is jumping for joy because I was a huge fan of Mr. Zimmer and The Neptunes! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? My first music opportunity didn't come until around my 34th birthday, when AWAL/The Orchard accepted me. My 20's were spent with poor health from diabetes and bad things happening to me. I always feel pressured to make up for lost time!
