About Mzungu Kichaa

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I started listening to music when I was very young. My mother had an amazing record collection. I soon created my own, and knew that music would be a big part of my life. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bob Marley & The Wailers, Survival (2013 Remaster) Bonus Track Version Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, Neria The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Axis: Bold As Love These three albums have been important soundtracks to my life. I started listening to Jimi Hendrix when i was about 13, Bob Marley soon followed, and my favourite track has got to be Zimbabwe, leading on to Neria, which I watched in Zambia as a child Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “London Town” I love this song because it takes me through both time and space. I wrote the song when I was headed to London to study. I added the swahili vers to showcase the importance of multiculturalism, something i truly experienced while living in London What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? When I launched my debut album Tuko Pamoja, I was overwhelmed by the support it got in Denmark, winning an African Achievement Award, and a flight back to East Africa, where I performed my first major festivals, Sauti za Busara, Blankets and Bayimba Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I look forward to performing in more countries, and would love to perform at Roskilde Festival, Glastonbury, and collaborate in the studio with some of my favourite artists. I love finding new inspiration and developing my guitar skills day by day.
