Montell Jordan was a ‘90s R&B sensation whose string of hits includes the 1995 No. 1 smash “This Is How We Do It.” • The L.A. native found his passion for music by playing the piano and singing at his local Baptist church. He signed with Def Jam Records—a label known primarily for hip-hop—in 1995. • The singer’s 1995 debut album This Is How We Do It that peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard 200. The title track and lead single topped the Billboard Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks. • Don’t call Jordan a one-hit wonder.
