About Mikey Wax

Singer/songwriter and Long Island native Mikey Wax took to music at a young age, learning to play the piano and write his first songs at the age of eight. Ten years later, while attending college in Nashville, Wax continued to develop his musical skills and released his debut album, Change Again, in 2009. The album was well-received, quickly gaining popularity on social media sites and, thanks to a front-page placement of his uplifting pop single "In Case I Go Again" on YouTube, Change Again was launched onto the digital pop charts in North America, Australia, and the U.K. Over the next two years, Wax would go on tour with a number of like-minded singer/songwriters like Howie Day, Andy Grammer, and Tony Lucca. In 2010 he released the Traveler EP and played the first of what would eventually become an annual house concert tour across the U.S. Late the following year, he released his second album, Constant Motion, which placed at number 47 on Billboard's Heatseeker chart. He continued to tour, building his fan base, and in 2012 his song "Counting on You" was chosen to be featured during the weekly elimination round on Fox's hit show So You Think You Can Dance. Several months later, "Counting on You" was also used in the movie trailer for the film Playing for Keeps. In the summer of 2012, Wax's song "In Case I Go Again" was featured during the Summer Olympics on NBC. Later that year, he released a holiday EP titled And a Happy New Year, and in 2013 signed a record deal with Toucan Cove/Universal Music Group. His self-titled third LP arrived in the summer of 2014 and was produced by the Nashville brother duo of Ed and Scott Cash. The album's lead single, "You Life Me Up," was given major exposure thanks to a placement on a Season 10 promo for Keeping Up with the Kardashians and its use during a number of NBA games that year. With a new PEN co-publishing deal in place, Wax released the uplifting single "Helium" in 2016. ~ Timothy Monger
