Mick Talbot

About Mick Talbot

Primarily known for his '80s soul and jazz-pop work with Paul Weller in the Style Council, Mick Talbot is a dexterous keyboard player whose extensive career has seen him perform with many high-profile artists. That act enjoyed three U.K. high-charting albums, including the 1985 number one, Our Favourite Shop. They split in 1989, and Talbot established himself on the acid jazz scene as a member of Galliano, following a 1991 guest spot with Young Disciples. In 1995, he played Rhodes piano on Weller's U.K. Top 20 hit, "Broken Stones," before an intense period of creativity began alongside Chris Bangs. In 2003, he returned to Dexys Midnight Runners for a ten-year stint, for whom he'd performed briefly in 1980. Later years saw him tour the world with Candi Staton, team up with Wilko Johnson and Roger Daltrey on 2014's Going Back Home, and join a re-formed iteration of Mother Earth.
